LASER has many applications one of them is Lidar (/ˈlaɪdɑːr/, Light Detection and Ranging) is a method for measuring distances (ranging) by illuminating the target with laser light and measuring the reflection with a sensor. Differences in laser return times and wavelengths can then be used to make digital 3-D representations of the target. It has terrestrial, airborne, and mobile applications. LIDAR technology is usually mounted in drones and airplanes and then the on flight data is stored and processed.The light bounces/ reflects back the using different computational techniques in post processes LIDAR produces a height map of the surfaces as these laser light can go though canopy and caves and find the level of ground beneath.
LIDAR was carried out in Tabasco region of Mexico, where early Mayan civilization was known to exist. The area were scanned in two phases first large area were scanned in low spectral resolution and then if any leads were found the small area were then scanned using UAV’s with high resolution.
